FAQ

  • How many driving lessons do I need in Victoria?

You can have as many lessons as you like. The number of lessons you need will depend on your aptitude to learn and how much practice you have between lessons. In general, it is advised that you start with a package of 10 lessons. This will give you a good foundation in driving and allow you to develop safe and practical skills. You may then add additional lessons as you see fit.

  • How many hours of lessons do you need to pass?

Passing your driving test does not depend on the number of lessons that you have. Rather it depends on the driving skills that you develop so that you are ready to take on your driving test. You must drive for a minimum of 120 hours on your L plates before going for your driving test with at least 20 of those hours driven at night.

  • How long do you have to be on your green Ps in Victoria?

Once you pass your driving test you will become a probationary driver. If under 21 you will start as a P1 driver and need to display a red P plate for 12 months before graduating to a P2 driver where you will need to display a green P plate for another 3 years. If over 21 you will start as a P2 driver and only need to display a green P plate for 3 years. Following your probationary driving period you will become a fully licenced driver.
